Slipper orchid

Paphiopedilum

VARIETIES: Paphiopedilum insigne is the easiest to grow.
		Mottle leaf
		Green leaf

MAXIMUM HEIGHT:	1 - 3 feet

BLOOMING:	Mostly in the summer but occasionally during other times in the year.
Each bloom can last 3 months.

LIGHT: Prefers a shady area with indirect light.

TEMPERATURE: Paphiopedilum insigne can tolerate a minimum of 45°F (7°C)
		Mottle leaf - 45 - 55°F (7 - 13°C)
		Green leaf - keep around 65°F (18°C)

WATERING: Keep the soil moist at all times. Yet sure not the soil to stand in
		water.

HUMIDITY:	Prefers high humidity. To achieve this, rest the pot on some stones in a dish
filled with water. Make sure the water does not submerge the stones and touch
the bottom of the pot. This will increase the humidity directly around the
plant due to the evaporation of the water in the dish.

FERTILIZING: Feed with a liquid fertilizer diluted to quarter of its recommended
		strength.

SUBSTRATE:	Use a potting soil specially formulated for orchid plants. Be on the
lookout for the soil becoming moldy.

REPOTTING:	Spring and early summer.
