SaintpauliaVARIETIES: African violet - Saintpaulia MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 4 - 6 inches BLOOMING: Different varieties have 1 - 2" flowers ranging in purple, blue or purple, white and mixed colours. SUBSTRATE: 2 parts peat moss, 1 part regular potting soil and 1 part sharp sand or perlite and place in a pot on a humidifying tray. LIGHT: Bright indirect or curtain-filtered sunlight or in 14 - 16 hours of artificial light a day. TEMPERATURE: Night = 65 - 70°F (18 - 21°C) Day = around 75°F (24°C) or higher WATERING: Keep barely moist FERTILIZING: Fertilize monthly Do not fertilize when plant is not in bloom PROPAGATING: Propagate named varieties from leaf cuttings or crown divisions. Propagate new varieties from seeds. |
