VARIETIES: 	Thread-bearing century plant - A. filifera
		Painted century plant - A. picta
		Queen Victoria century plant - A. victoriae-reginae
		
MAXIMUM HEIGHT:	6 - 12 inches

SUBSTRATE:	1 part loam, 1 part leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand and 
		½ part crushed charcoal.
		OR! use equal parts of general potting soil and sharp sand.
		To each gallon pailfull of either mixture add: 
		- 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone
		- 1 tablespoon of bone meal.
						
LIGHT: 		4 or more hours a day of direct sunlight.
		Or where only artificial light is available, be sure to provide 
		at least 1000 foot-candles over a 12 hour period.
			
TEMPERATURE: 	Night = 50 - 55°F (10 - 13°C)
		Day = 68 - 72°F (20 - 23°C)

WATERING: 	Spring - Fall: Let the soil become moderately dry between
				thorough waterings.
		Winter: Water only enough to prevent the leaves from shriveling.

FERTILIZING: 	Wait 1 year to fertilize new plants, 
		Mature plants - Fertilize once each spring with standard household 
			fertilizer  diluted to half the minimum recommended strength.
PROPAGATING:	Propagate from seed.
