Araucaria

VARIETIES: 	Norfolk Island Pine - A. heterophylla also called A. excelsa 

MAXIMUM HEIGHT:	Will grow indefinitly if given proper conditions (up to 200 feet)

SUBSTRATE:	Equal parts of peat moss or leaf mold and perlite or vermiculite.
		To each gallon pailfull of this mixture add:
		- 1½ teaspoons of 20% superphosphate
		- 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone
		- 2 teaspoons of 5-10-5 fertilizer.
		OR! use highly organic potting soil
		(ie. potting soil for african violets)
						
LIGHT: 		Prefers indirect or curtain-filtered sunlight.
		Or where only artificial light is available, be sure to provide 
		at least 400 foot-candles.
			
TEMPERATURE: 	Night = 50 - 55°F (10 - 13°C)
		Day = 68 - 72°F (20 - 23°C)
		But can tolerate temperatures from 45 - 85°F (7 - 29°C)

WATERING: 	Keep soil barely moist.
		
FERTILIZING: 	Wait 4 - 6 months to fertilize new plants, 
		Mature plants - fertilize every 3 - 4 months

PROPAGATING:	Very difficult. Stem cuttings will grow but not in the
		shape of a plant grown from seed.
