'Fishtail palm'

VARIETIES: 	Tufted Fishtail palm - C. mitis, also called C. furfuracea
		
MAXIMUM HEIGHT:	It will reach ceiling height and may run out of space because it 
		cannot be pruned.

SUBSTRATE:	1 part loam, 1 part peat moss or leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand, and
		½ part well-rotted or dried cow manure.
		To each gallon pailfull of this mixture add: 
		- 2 tablespoon of bone meal.
		OR! use general purpose potting soil
		Press down the soil around the root ball especially well.
						
LIGHT: 		Bright indirect sunlight. Or more than 400 foot-candles of 
		artifical light.
			
TEMPERATURE: 	Night = 65 - 70°F (18 - 21°C)
		Day = 75 - 85°F (24 - 29°C)

WATERING: 	Keep soil wet at all times but do not let the soil sit in water.

FERTILIZING: 	Do not fertilize newly purchased plants for 4 - 6 months.
		Mature plants: 	Fertilize monthly from spring to fall.
				Do not fertilze for the rest of the year.

PROPAGATING:	Propagate at any season from seed or young shoots that sprout up around
		the base of the plant.

REPOTTING:	Early spring when the root ball out grows its pot.
