CibotiumVARIETIES: Hawaiian tree fern - C. chamissoi, C. menziesii Mexican tree fern - C. schiedei MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 4 - 8 feet SUBSTRATE: 1 part loam, 1 part peat moss or leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand, 1 part finely ground fir bark. To each gallon pailfull of this mixture add: - 2 tablespoons of bone meal. OR! a mixture composed of 1 part general purpose potting soil, 1 part peat moss or leaf mold. LIGHT: Bright indirect sunlight. Or more than 400 foot-candles of artifical light TEMPERATURE: Night = 50 - 55°F (10 - 13°C) Day = 68 - 72°F (20 - 22°C) WATERING: Keep soil barely moist at all times. FERTILIZING: Wait 6 months before fertilizing newly purchased plants. Mature plants - fertilize every 6 months with standard house-plant fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength. PROPAGATING: Propagate at any season from spores. REPOTTING: Early spring. |
