CrassulaVARIETIES: Silver dollar plant - C. arborescens, also called C. cotyledon Jade Plant, Chinese rubber plant - C. argentea, also called C. portulacea MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 18 - 30 inches SUBSTRATE: 1 part loam, 1 part peat moss or leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand. To each gallon pailfull of this mixture add: - 1½ teaspoons of 20% superphosphate - 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone - 2 teaspoons of 5-10-5 fertilizer. OR! use general purpose potting soil LIGHT: 4 or more hours of direct sunlight. Or more than 12 hours of artifical light per day. But will also do well in curtain filtered / indirect sunlight. TEMPERATURE: Night = 50 - 55°F (10 - 13°C) Day = 68 - 72°F (20 - 22°C) But will tolerate ranges from 40 - 100°F (4 - 38°C) WATERING: Allow soil to become almost dry between thorough waterings. FERTILIZING: Wait 4 - 6 months before fertilizing newly purchased plants. Mature plants - fertilize every 3 to 4 months. PROPAGATING: Propagate at any season from stem or leaf cuttings. REPOTTING: Any season. |
