EcheveriaVARIETIES: Painted lady - E. derenbergii Mexican snowball - E. elegans, also called Cotyledon elegans Peacock echeveria - E. peacockii, also called E. desmetiana Plush plant - E. pulvinata MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 2 - 4 inches across and can reach 12 - 18 inches tall. SUBSTRATE: 1 part loam, 1 part leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand and 1/2 part crushed charcoal. OR Use a mixture of equal parts of a packaged general-purpose potting soil and sharp sand. To each of these mixtures you use, add 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone and 1 tablespoon of bone meal. LIGHT: All but Plush plant: Prefers direct sunlight for more that 4 hours per day. Or where artificial and natural light average 1000 foot-candles. But will grow fairly well in bright indirect light. Plush plant: Bright indirect sunlight or 400 foot-candles of artificial light. TEMPERATURE: Night = 50 - 55°F (16 - 18°C) Day = 68 - 72°F (20 - 22°C) WATERING: Spring - Fall: Allow soil to soil to become moderately dry between thorough waterings. Winter: Water only enough to prevent the leaves from shriveling. FERTILIZING: Wait 1 year months to fertilize new plants, Mature plants - fertilize once a year by diluting to half the minimum strength recommended on the label of a standard house plant fertilizer. PROPAGATING: Any season from leaf or stem cuttings. Plush plants can also be propagated from the growing tips of failing stems. REPOTTING: Any season. |
