EuonymusVARIETIES: Winter creeper - E. fortunei, also called E. radicans Evergreen euonymus- E. japonicus HEIGHT: Winter creeper - Creeping plant 18 inch stems. Evergreen euonymus - 3 feet SUBSTRATE: 1 part loam, 1 part peat moss or leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand. To each gallon pailfull of this mixture add: - 1½ teaspoons of 20% superphosphate - 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone - 2 teaspoons of 5-10-5 fertilizer. Otherwise, use a general purpose potting soil. LIGHT: 4 or more hours a day of direct sunlight Or where only artificial is available, provide 400 foot-candles per day. TEMPERATURE: Night = 40 - 55°F (4 - 13°C) Day = 65°F (18°C) or lower Will tolerate temperatures between 35 - 70°F (2 - 21°C) WATERING: Keep soil barely moist at all times. FERTILIZING: Wait 6 months to fertilize new plants, Mature plants - fertilize at 3 -4 month intervals PROPAGATING: Propagate from stem cuttings at any season. PRUNING: Spring REPOTTING: Any season but spring. |
