Notocactus

VARIETIES: 	Sun cup - N. apricus, also called Echinocactus apricus
		Golden Ball cactus - N. leninghausii, also called 
				Echinocactus leninghausii
		Silver Ball cactus - N.scopa, also called Echinocactus scopa
				
MAXIMUM HEIGHT:	3 - 5 inches, Golden ball may grow to be 6 inches and more.

SUBSTRATE:	1 part loam, 1 part leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand, and 
		½ part crushed charcoal.
		OR! use an equal mixture of general potting soil and sharp sand.
		To each pail full of either mixture, add:
		- 1 tablespoon of bone meal
		- 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone
								
LIGHT: 		4 or more hours per day of light.
		Or where only artificial and natural light exposure averages
		at least 1000 foot-candles over 12 hours per day.
		But also grow well in bright indirect light.
	
TEMPERATURE: 	SPRING-FALL: Night = 65 - 75°F (18 - 24°C)
			     Day = 75 - 85°F  (24 - 29°C)
		WINTER:	Night = 40 - 45°F (4 - 7°C)
			Day = under 65°F  (18°C)
		
WATERING: 	SPRING-FALL: Allow soil to become moderately dry between thorough waterings.
		WINTER: Water only enough to prevent the plant fro shriveling

FERTILIZING: 	Do not fertilize new plants for one year.
		Mature Plants: Fertilize once each spring.

PROPAGATING:	Propagate at any season from stem cuttings or from seeds.
