Osmanthus

VARIETIES: 	Holly osmanthus, False Holly - O. heterophyllus, also called
			O. aquifolium and O. illicifolius
					
MAXIMUM HEIGHT:	3 or more feet

SUBSTRATE:	1 part loam, 1 part peat moss or leaf mold, 1 part sharp sand.
		To each gallon pailfull of this mixture add:
		- 1½ teaspoons of 20% superphosphate
		- 1 tablespoon of ground lime-stone
		- 2 teaspoons of 5-10-5 fertilizer.
		OR! use general purpose potting soil.
						
LIGHT: 		4 or more hours per day of light.
		Or where only artificial and natural light exposure averages
		at least 800 foot-candles over 12 hours per day.
		But also grow well in bright indirect light.
		
TEMPERATURE: 	Night = 40 - 55°F (4 - 13°C)
		Day = 65 - 75°F (18 - 24°C)

WATERING: 	Keep the soil barely moist at all times.
		
FERTILIZING: 	Wait 4-6 months to fertilize new plants, 
		Mature plants - fertilize twice a year. Once during early spring and
			again in early summer. 
	
PRUNING:	Early spring.

PROPAGATING:	Propagate any season from stem cuttings or air layering.

REPOTTING:	Early spring.
